TROUBLE on the circuit: our first laurels
TROUBLE has had the kind of first run on the festival circuit you hope for but never plan on. In a single weekend at GATFFEST Film Festival, the film took the Lennie Little-White Award for Best Local Film and the Viewers’ Choice Award — the jury and the audience landing on the same film at the same time. Those two rarely agree, so we are holding onto this one.
From there the news kept coming. TROUBLE is a 2026 Caribbean Film Awards nominee, and an Official Selection at the 12°N, 61°W Film Festival in Grenada — the film’s first steps beyond Jamaica, and a sign that a story this specific can still travel.
Next stop is Toronto. TROUBLE screens as part of Screen Share: Caribbean Stories, Collective Power on September 11, 2026 — a program built around Caribbean filmmakers finding each other and an international audience at the same table.
We made TROUBLE to be exactly what it is: a small, sharp, deeply Jamaican film that plays anywhere someone has ever been handed a job they could not afford to get wrong. Watching it connect with juries and crowds on both sides of the water is the proof we were after.
